China to Launch Its Own Network on TON Blockchain

Chinese community of the Telegram Open Network (TON) project is planning to launch its own test network on the Telegram's blockchain product, Cointelegraph has learned citing the announcement of Tooz Wu, founder of the Chinese TON Community.

Wu plans to start the TON Blockchain testnet in the first step, recruit more nodes and developers to join the network and test the network. After that, according to him, the community will focus of redesigning network rules that are more adapted to the current context, and invite more people to use TON.

Previously the Free TON community, which is made up of an independent group of developers, validators and software users, launched the Free TON Blockchain and its native token TON Crystal (TON).

The protocol has been developed by Nikolai Durov and the Telegram team.

Having faced pressure from the US, Telegram Messenger Co-Founder Pavel Durov diced to shut down the TON project earlier this month.

In 2018 via two private placements Telegram attracted from several investors $1.7 billion for its blockchain.
