Blockchain streaming platform Theta has just announced it has teamed up with Google. Google Cloud will join Theta's blockchain as a corporate validator.
Theta Labs has allocated 5 million THETA tokens (about $1.75M) to Google's node, which will be hosted in Ireland. The company will become this way the protocol's fifth corporate validator and the first in Europe.
Crypto exchange Binance and Blockchain Ventures and Gumi Cryptos were the only validators of the blockchain so far.
Theta aims to have a total of 31 external corporate validators.
Theta will also be granted premium access to the Google Cloud service. Google Cloud developer advocate Allen Day said:
"Theta is unique in that their video delivery network needs both a reliable, high-performance network – which we provide via our premium network tier – as well as reputable node operators to ensure protocol security."
Theta also plans to keep collaborating with Google's artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data initiatives. Google also owns YouTube, a key target for Theta's partnership aspirations.
