The Litecoin Foundation and the video game manufacturer Atari have teamed up to make Litecoin an accepted means of payment for the Atari token.

According to a press release shared yesterday by Atari and the Litecoin Foundation, the launch is scheduled for September.

The token will reportedly be used to manage purchases and track digital assets within the ecosystem as well as to make purchases within Atari Casino, which allows users to enjoy casino games through cryptocurrencies.

Atari has also established Atari Chain Ltd, a subsidiary focused on developing crypto projects within the entertainment industry.

Litecoin will not only provide access to the Atari token, but can also be used to purchase the future Atari VCS console at a discount. In addition, the seventh largest crypto by market cap is also expected to be used on the gaming platforms within the Atari ecosystem.

iHodl reported in March Atari plans to launch a music game based on the catalog of the world-renowned artist AVICII, the so-called Atari token and a casino with support for cryptocurrencies by September 30, 2020.
