Popular crypto trading platform Binance has just registered a domain name with the government of China.

According to public records, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reportedly approved the domain name Binance.cn in April.

Per public information, the domain name has been registered by the company Shanghai Bi Nai Shi Information Technology LLC, which curiously has a similar pronunciation to Binance in the Chinese language. In addition, the registration is also confirmed by government records.

Local publication ChainNews has reported that the only legal representative of the company, Junxi He, has two other companies registered under his name. All three have been registered over the past three months and their names have a similar pronunciation to Binance.

The exchange states in its new domain it plans to provide several services in China such as consulting, research, development, charity and investment in the blockchain industry.

It looks like this new website could be related to the company's initiative to create a blockchain research institute in the Asian giant. In March it was known Binance Academy, the non-profit subsidiary of the exchange, had established an institute focused on the research and development of blockchain tech.
