Popular crypto trading platform BitMEX has just launched the COVID-19 Response Fund and allocated $2.5M to support funds involved in the fight against the coronavirus.
The exchange has reported through its official blog that BitMEX will support four funds: Gates Philanthropy Partners, OpenMined, Our World in Data and the Nuclear Threat Initiative (Biosecurity Program), which will receive between $300,000 and $1 million.
The funds will be used to gather information on the spread of the virus and develop vaccines as well as diagnostic and treatment tools. BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes said:
"We are committed to thoughtful grantmaking and ensuring that our actions during the COVID-19 crisis can make the biggest impact now and in the future. We have therefore decided to make grants totaling US$2.5 million to four organizations that are making a tangible difference in tackling COVID-19 as well as mitigating global catastrophic biological risks."
Earlier this month it was known Twitter CEO had donated $1B of his personal wealth to help fight the COVID-19.
