Japanese logistics company Nippon Express has reported it plans to integrate cryptos' underlying technology into a new transportation system for pharmaceutical products, local newspaper Nikkei has reported.

The firm reportedly plans to invest around 100 billion yen ($1B) in a pharmaceutical transportation network based on blockchain technology.

This new system, which will allow real-time tracking of the whole pharmaceutical supply chain, is expected to be developed during the next year.

Nippon Express will cooperate with other companies such as Accenture, which will create a sensor system to check the temperature of products inside trucks and warehouses, and with Intel Japan, which will provide radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to track shipments.

The whole system will enable manufacturers, wholesalers and medical institutions to track all products in real time using cryptos' underlying tech.
