Estonia's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has just granted CryptoMarket, a popular Chile-based crypto trading platform, a license to offer crypto trading services.

The exchange, which was founded in 2016, has just joined the group of Latin American companies that operate in the region after Mexico's Bitso and Venezuela's Mercury Cash received licenses from Gibraltar and Estonia respectively.

The trading platform, which currently offers its services in Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Europe and has about 150,000 users, has been forced to incorporate a representative in Estonia in order to obtain the license.

The process of obtaining the license to offer crypto buy-sell services has included an internal audit, a criminal background check as well as compliance with the regulations on user verification (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML).

Estonia tightened last year its regulations on anti-money laundering in the crypto sector.
