Popular US-based exchange Coinbase has revealed its emergency plan to protect employees in case of a worsening situation with the spread of coronavirus.

According to a published document, the exchange intends to introduce several stages of security measures, depending on the situation.

Strengthening security measures will affect all the cryptocurrency exchange offices located in the US, Japan, Ireland, and the UK.

So far, among all of the offices, the first threat level is assigned to the Japanese one.

Coinbase says it also reduced employee business trips to China, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, and South Korea.

The plan is divided into several phases as the number of infected people increases:

  • The first phase occurs in the case of more than 100 recorded precedents for "transmission of the virus from person to person." After the entry into force, the company will intensify the cleaning of offices and allow it to work remotely.
  • The second phase (more than 1000 infected) will prohibit the consumption of food in offices and restrict visitors.
  • In the event of the onset of the third phase (more than 5,000 infected), the exchange takes off all responsibility and introduces mandatory work from home.

Meanwhile, Coinbase has also introduced support for the Ethereum Name Service (ENS). From now on, Coinbase Wallet users can send crypto using short human-friendly addresses instead of traditional long addresses.
