Six investors in the blockchain platform Telegram Open Network (TON) have filed a petition with the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York State to keep their anonymity during the court battle between Telegram and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The petition has been published by the non-profit project Court Listener.

Investors are asking lawyers to allow them to remain anonymous under a pseudonym and to exclude their names from all documents related to the case.

They argue that while disclosing their identities will not benefit the case, it will negatively affect their defense.

Telegram and the SEC are fighting in courts because the regulator believes the company illegally sold unregistered securities during the ICO of its Gram token. According to the regulator, the company's own employees considered the token to be a security. In addition, the SEC accuses Telegram of lying about the amount of funds attracted during the sale of the token."
