Bitcoin has started the day posting gains. At press time, the largest cryptocurrency by market cap is trading at $9,343.42 (+3.74%), according to CoinMarketCap.

For its part, Ethereum has jumped to $178.35 (+3.66%), while XRP has climbed by 2.91% and is now trading at $0.239.
Crypto trading platform Bitfinex has recently frozen 96 BTCs (around $860,000) that had been sent to the platform by a hacker or hackers who had got the money through a ransomware attack. A UK court has ordered the exchange to freeze the funds.
A company whose name has not been disclosed was reportedly attacked by a hacker or hackers who encrypted the information on their computers and asked for 109.25 Bitcoins (about $950,000) for unlocking the information. Part of these funds were converted into fiat by the attackers, while 96 BTCs were sent to a Bitfinex address.
Once the hackers were paid, the company decided to report the case to the authorities, which have ordered the freezing of the funds stored at Bitfinex.
According to CoinMarketCap’s ranking, 9 currencies on the top 10 are in green.
As for the market cap of all currencies listed in CoinMarketCap, it stays at $256,830,605,571.
