Cryptocurrency-focused department of financial services & merchant services aggregator Square Inc., Square Crypto, has announced its building from scratch a new crypto-focused Lightning Development Kit (LDK).
According to the official blog post, the kit gives crypto & blockchain developers a simpler way to develop custom apps.
It's expected that LDK will include support for an API (based on the Rust-Lightning project), language bindings, demo apps, and etc.
The kit will focus on the following goals:
- Integrating Lightning features to existing bitcoin (EXANTE: Bitcoin) wallets;
- Multi-device support;
- Support for wallets to make UX/security/privacy tradeoffs, including external transaction signing and customizing their state backup to a cloud service.
However, Square Crypto says the kit is not yet ready. The department believes it’s only a matter of time "until instant, low-fee bitcoin payments are as common as cash used to be."
Back in June 2019, iHodl reported that Apple revealed its own new framework called CryptoKit to perform cryptographic operations securely and efficiently.
