The Co-Founder of the Ethereum blockchain network Vitalik Buterin in a Reddit thread explained the technical possibility of reunion Ethereum and Ethereum classic under the one platform — Ethereum 2.0.

Ethereum Classic Completes New Hard Fork

In particular, Buterin believes that it's "very possible" just to use the same merger process to import the Ethereum Classic state that is planned for Ethereum.

Then, Buterin says, the Ethereum Classic execution environment code "would enforce a different exchange rate vs beacon chain" Ethereum, based on the rate at the time of the merger.

"This is if you want to re-merge the currencies," Buterin added.

However, the Co-Founder of the Ethereum also points out that the merging of blockchains is a question related to their communities.

Earlier iHodl reported that the Muir Glacier hard fork of Ethereum's network had been successfully activated.
