Popular messenger Telegram has made it clear it won't control the upcoming decentralize platform called the TON Blockchain.
According to an official statement that was recently published on the Telegram News channel, the source code for the TON Blockchain "will always be open source and publicly viewable."
"Once it is launched, Telegram will occupy the same position as any other party with respect to the TON Blockchain and will not have any control over, any unique rights within, or any responsibility for the management of, the TON Blockchain," the announcement says.
Telegram also points out its employees won't take part in voting or validating in connection with the blockchain in order to avoid any perception that Telegram has greater control over the blockchain than others.
Earlier the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reported that Telegram has refused to share financial information related to its ICO, in which it attracted about $1.7B.
