Cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex has issued a statement in which the exchange denied data leak originating amid massive email mailing asking the exchange's users to reset passwords.

Crypto Exchange Poloniex Suffers Data Leak

Previously Poloniex emailed approximately 1% of the exchange's total base, requiring to reset Poloniex password in response to a tweet "claiming to contain a list of leaked email addresses and passwords."

"For those interested in our security protocols, we do not store passwords in plain text or a recoverable form, but rather we store them as salted bcrypt hashes," the statement says.

Earlier iHodl reported that Poloniex simplified its KYC system that all new customers can sign up and begin trading using only an email address and password.
