Popular crypto exchange Poloniex has asked its users to reset their passwords after a list of emails and passwords was leaked on Twitter.

The trading platform yesterday sent an email to the affected users informing them of the situation and asking them to reset their passwords in order to keep their accounts safe.

According to the email, an unknown attacker had reportedly posted on Twitter a list of email addresses and passwords that allowed anyone to log in the platform.

In the message, Poloniex warns that although "almost all the leaked accounts do not belong to the exchange, we ask all our users to reset their passwords."

A Twitter user thought Poloniex's warning was a scam. However, the exchange confirmed it was an authentic message.

It has recently been reported that the exchange had removed KYC verification for users wishing to withdraw less than $10,000 from the platform.

In November iHodl reported Poloniex had acquired a decentralized exchange based on TRON's blockchain.
