The central bank of Sweden, Sveriges Riksbank, has announced a partnership with a consultancy firm Accenture to deploy a pilot platform for a cryptocurrency called the e-krona, Reuters reports.
According to Reuters, fiat cash flow in Sweden has decreased in recent years and the financial institution has been looking for a new area to expand its services.
"The primary objective of the e-krona pilot project is to broaden the bank’s understanding of the technological possibilities for the e-krona," the bank said in a statement.
Previously iHodl reported that the Council of the European Union issued a report, according to which the EU decision-maker will ban all stablecoins until all of the risks related to them and concerns are properly addressed.
