Bakkt reported yesterday through its official Twitter account that the trading volume of its bitcoin futures contracts yesterday reached 4,443 bitcoins, 60% more than the previous record.

However, things went even further, since the monitoring service Bakkt Bot reported shortly afterward this figure had reached 5,671 BTCs ($42.5M).

Just as a comparison, the previous record was at $20.3 million traded on November 22, which means that yesterday's figure is 109% higher.

Trading volumes have not always been so high on the platform. Bakkt, which launched its bitcoin futures contracts just two months ago, did not have a good start after the market did not reach the launch as expected. However, during the last few weeks, we have witnessed several records.

This sharp increase in the trading volume on the platform coincides with a bearish market. Bitcoin has been falling over the last few weeks, however, it looks like the market is gaining a boost.
