CoinDesk: Telegram Founder to Testify in SEC vs Telegram Case

Founder and Chief Executive of a popular Russian instant messaging service Telegram, Pavel Durov, will testify alongside two other employees in the SEC vs Telegram case, CoinDesk reports citing a document signed by District Judge P. Kevin Castel at the New York Southern District Court.

The document states the deposition of Pavel Durov in his personal capacity will be taken on January 7 or 8, 2020.

Telegram VP Ilya Perekopsky, who is allegedly responsible for investor contacts during the GRAM token sale, will testify on December 16th in London, while the deposition of Shyam Parekh, a Telegram employee, whose name appears in the documents for investors, will be held on December 10, 2019.

Previously iHodl reported that Telegram sent a series of documents to a U.S. court asking it to dismiss the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's lawsuit against the issuance and distribution of its token.

The SEC filed "an emergency action" after Telegram failed to register its offers and sales of Grams, which are securities, in violation of the registration provisions of the Securities Act of 1933.
