Bill Gates, founder of tech giant Microsoft, has just surpassed Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, in the ranking of the world's richest people, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
According to the index, Gates' net assets are estimated at around $110 billion, while Bezos' have fallen to $109 billion.
This is not the first time Gates beats Bezos in this ranking. For example, Bezos lost his position as the richest person in the world just after the publication of the company's results in October. However, he regained the position a bit later. Until now.
The breach between Gates' and Bezos' fortunes narrowed in the summer as a result of the divorce of Amazon's CEO, who had to give his wife Mackenzie Bezos around 19.7 million Amazon shares as part of the divorce agreement.
Jeff Bezos became the richest person in the world in July 2017 after surpassing Gates, who had occupied the throne since 2013.
Microsoft has recently gained a $10B contract with the Pentagon after beating Amazon, which was also fighting for it.
