The cryptocurrency exchange plans to launch a prediction markets service by the end of 2020, The Block has reported citing the statements made by the company CTO Paolo Ardoino.

According to him, the main problem of the project is protection, which is why the company is exploring the possibility to limit the service to verified users only.

The most popular prediction markets service at the moment is Augur (REP), which has been designed as a "complement" to the ethereum network. There is also Amoveo (VEO), which is a similar project. However, it has its own smart contract network.

Prediction markets allow users to bet on the outcome of certain events, such as price movements.

Earlier this week iHodl reported Bitfinex plans to launch options and a gold-backed stablecoin.
