Reuters: Revolut to Raise $500M for Global Expansion Next Year

UK-based fintech startup Revolut is planning to attract as much as $500 million for global expansion next year, Revolut CEO and Co-Founder Nikolay Storonsky told Reuters in an interview.

According to Storonsky, the company wants to raise "at least $500 million in direct equity and potentially" up to $1 billion.

"We want to raise at least $500 million in direct equity and potentially, maybe at a later stage, up to $1 billion in convertible (debt). We have done soft marketing with investors and we are continuing doing it, so hopefully in the next several months, we’ll get it done," Storonsky said.

Revolut CEO also said the startup plans to increase its team up to 5,000 by late next year from 1,800 currently.
