British multinational banking and financial services company Standard Chartered PLC announced it has joined the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA).

According to the official announcement that was published on the website, Standard Chartered will collaborate with industry leaders in pursuit of Ethereum-based enterprise technology best practices, open standards, and open-source reference architectures.

Dr. Michael Gorriz, Group Chief Information Officer at Standard Chartered claims blockchain enables Standard Chartered to facilitate trade and investment across the bank's footprint markets, improving client experiences and offering new services.

"We are excited to be a part of the EEA and look forward to opportunities where we can collaborate with other leading industry players to deepen blockchain research and application in the banking sector," Gorriz added.

Earlier iHodl reported that Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the UK's tax authority, published last a series of tax guidelines for businesses that complement its previous guidelines for individuals.
