Japanese multinational conglomerate holding company SoftBank in cooperation with technology giant IBM and TBCASoft announced they are entering into a strategic collaboration to support the transformation of the telecommunications industry via cross-carrier blockchain technology, the official announcement states.

The collaboration will help telecommunication carriers to leverage blockchain through the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (CBSG) Consortium, a blockchain consortium co-founded by TBCASoft and SoftBank.

The joint work is designed to support industry-specific products including cross-border payments, digital ID, and telecom supply chain, leading to substantial opportunities for industry members.

Earlier American multinational information technology company IBM filed a patent for a blockchain-based browser. According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, a computer-implemented method records and maintains a record of browser events in a blockchain using a peer-to-peer network.
