China's central bank, the People's Bank of China (PBoC), would like to hire six experts to develop its digital currency, according to a job post published by the bank yesterday.

According to the post, the PBoC wants to add 6 new technology experts to several of its units, including the Digital Currency Research Institute.

The institute reportedly would like to hire candidates with experience in computing, cryptography, micro-electronics, and econometrics to contribute to the development of its central bank digital currency (CBDC).

Some of their responsibilities will be to develop software systems for digital currency as well as digital currency trading terminals, among others.

The bank is particularly interested in experts with experience in systematic framework design, blockchain technology development, research of cryptocurrency and payment and settlement systems.

The People's Bank of China has been working on its own digital currency since 2014 and has recently reported it could be launched already this year or in early 2020.

iHodl reported in late August that users will not need a traditional bank account to transfer China's upcoming central bank digital currency (CBDC).
