US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase wants to acquire Omni Rentals, a startup in which Ripple has invested in the past, TechCrunch reports citing several sources.

Omni Rentals offers rental services for several products and last year received a $25M investment from Ripple, although the company is dealing with some layoffs.

Coinbase is interested in adding Omni's development team to its Coinbase Earn project. However, Coinbase has said that still has no information to share about this.

Omni sold in May its storage business to Clutter, a rival company backed by Japanese giant SoftBank.

Coinbase's Earn platform was launched in December last year and is currently available to residents in over 100 countries.

Last month it was known that Coinbase could list Gram, Telegram's native token.
