A second layer payment protocol for instant micropayments that operates on top of the Bitcoin blockchain Lightning Network has reached the mark of 10,000 active nodes.

According to the analytical website 1ml.com, the number of light nodes has reached 10,004.

At press time, the network charges only 1 satoshi (worth $0.0001) per transaction.

Previously users of the Lightning Network found that the protocol had a critical vulnerability.

Earlier iHodl reported that users of the popular U.S.-based crypto trading platform Coinbase now have access to the Lightning Network right from their accounts.
