Block.one, EOS's parent company, has just opened an office in Washington DC, the firm announced on September 23 through its official website.

The office is located in Arlington, Virginia, and is expected to employ around 170 people over the next 3 years.

Block.one CEO, Brendan Blumer, has said:

"Its proximity to the nation’s capital positions us close to the policy innovation around digital assets and distributed ledger technology in the U.S. This expansion opens up important new avenues of talent expansions for us at a time when there is rapidly increasing demand for blockchain-based technologies."

Ralph Northam, the governor of Virginia, said the firm is expected to make an investment of around $10 million in the area and that its presence will help improve Virginia's reputation in the IT sector.

In June iHodl reported Block.one had launched a new social media app known as Voice based on EOS' blockchain.
