The non-profit, open-source driven organization behind the IOTA distributed ledger technology (DLT) the IOTA Foundation has entered into a partnership with the Linux Foundation.

The main goal of the partnership is reportedly to establish an open, interoperable framework for edge computing independent of hardware, silicon, cloud, or operating system.

"LF Edge is an umbrella organization that aims to establish an open, interoperable framework for edge computing independent of hardware, silicon, cloud, or operating system. By bringing together industry leaders, LF Edge will create a common framework for hardware and software standards and best practices critical to sustaining current and future generations of IoT and edge devices," said Mathew Yarger, Public Sector Product Owner at the IOTA Foundation.

Arpit Joshipura, General Manager of Networking, Automation, Edge & IoT at the Linux Foundation says it’s incredible to witness "such strong industry support for collaborative innovation to create an open-source framework at the edge."

Earlier iHodl reported that the IOTA Foundation launched Industry Marketplace, a fully decentralized and autonomous industrial marketplace.
