The team of developers of ethereum classic (ETC), the seventeenth largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has just successfully activated the Atlantis hard fork ETC Director of Developer Relations Yaz Khoury has reported on Twitter:
"Congratulations @eth_classic on the successful activation of the Atlantis Hardfork! Was one of the longest debates to reach consensus along with a lot of the immutability politics Learned a lot about the beauty of decentralization and a distributed community."
The aim of this update is reportedly to improve the functionality and compatibility of the altcoin with ethereum.
The hard fork took place between September 12 and 13, as planned, at block 8,772,000.
The developers of the project claim that the objective of this update is to improve the security of the crypto's network by taking into account the concerns shared by the members of the community. In addition, it ensures that ethereum classic is fully compatible with ethereum.
Ihodl Spain reported in late June the developers of the project planned to activate the hard fork on September 17.
