Spanish multinational commercial bank and financial services company Banco Santander, S.A. has announced the launch of the first end-to-end blockchain bond.

The bank has reportedly launched the bond right onto the Ethereum blockchain.

According to the official announcement, the bank is itself the issuer of the $20 million bond. The bond carries a quarterly coupon of 1,98%.

José García Cantera, the Chief Financial Officer at Banco Santander, says the bank wants "to take advantage of any technology that can accelerate that process."

Earlier this year, the bank lost an appeal against a crypto exchange filed to the Court of Justice of the State of São Paulo.
