Users of the Lightning Network, a payment protocol that operates on top of a Bitcoin blockchain, has a critical vulnerability.

Thus, according to Australian blockchain developer Rusty Russell, the vulnerability still exists in various network projects for scaling the Lightning Network bitcoin blockchain.

"Security issues have been found in various lightning projects which could cause loss of funds," he wrote.

According to Russell, c-lightning software under version 0.7.1, Lightning Network Daemon (lnd) under 0.7, and Eclair under 0.3.1 are at risk.

The developer of the Eclair Lightning wallet, ACINQ, asked users to upgrade to Eclair 0.3.1 or Eclair Mobile 0.4.7+ as soon as possible.

Earlier iHodl reported that users of the popular U.S.-based crypto trading platform Coinbase now have access to the Lightning Network right from their accounts.
