The Dallas Mavericks Becomes Second NBA Team to Accept Bitcoin

The Dallas Mavericks, an NBA team owned by billionaire investor Mark Cuban, has just become the second American basketball league team to accept bitcoin as a means of payment to pay for match tickets and other products, crypto payment processor BitPay announced yesterday on Twitter:

Mark Cuban, the team's owner and one of the first billionaires who invested in a crypto venture fund, has recently said that in his opinion, bitcoin and gold are the same thing. Last month he also said that Libra, Facebook's stablecoin, is a big mistake.

The adoption of bitcoin as a means of payment by the team is no surprise, since Cuban suggested early last year that the Dallas Mavericks fans could soon use the largest crypto by market cap to buy match tickets.

Now, the team is the second in the U.S. basketball league to accept bitcoin as a means of payments, since the Sacramento Kings started accepting bitcoin in 2014.
