The Head of Thai Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), Pol Maj Gen Preecha Charoensahayanon, sees a threat for AML policy in cryptocurrencies, according to local news outlet Bangkok Post.

Preecha claims cryptocurrencies could be a tool for money laundering.

To confront the upcoming threat, the Head of AMLO wants to add a section, requiring providers of cryptocurrency exchanges to report activities to the watchdog office.

Earlier iHodl reported that Facebook's stablecoin Libra, which was officially announced by the social network on June 18, could face serious problems in Thailand.

Facebook will have to work hard to introduce Libra in Thailand because the currency cannot be regulated by any of the country's current laws.
