Tether has launched its stablecoin USDT on Blockstream's Liquid Network.
Blockstream reported through its official blog that, from now on, the ecosystem participants will be able to make fast and secure payments through Confidential Transactions, an enhanced privacy-oriented technology, as well as to enjoy multiple signature features.
However, this is not the only innovation, since investors and traders will be able to perform atomic exchanges between Liquid BTC and the stablecoin and to deposit funds into their wallets more quickly thanks to the USDT.
Hong Kong-based crypto exchange Bitfinex already allows the deposit and withdrawal of Liquid USDt. According to the company, the best way to securely store Liquid USDT tokens is Blockstream Green wallet.
Trezor hardware wallets could add support for this cryptocurrency in the future.
Blockstream's security director, Samson Mou, has said:
"The addition of Tether is an important step in our process of increasing the practical uses of the Liquid Network."
Blockstream and Tether plan to launch the stablecoin USDT on the Lightning Network.
Tether has been pretty active recently. For example, in May this year it launched the USDT token on EOS's blockchain.
Ihodl has reported that a New York judge has decided to extend Bitfinex and Tether's case for 90 days to give investigators more time to work on the case.
