Vitalik Buterin has published a new topic on ethresear.ch in which he proposes to use the blockchain network of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) for storing ethereum-related data as a temporary solution for scalability.

The topic, titled "Bitcoin Cash: a short-term data availability layer for ethereum?" describes the idea of using BCH network as an intermediate way of ethereum blockchain network scaling before the update of ethereum 2.0.

"In the shorter term, however, we can start working on these techniques immediately by using existing blockchains, particularly those that have lower transaction fees per byte than ethereum, as the data layer," Buterin wrote.

Ethereum has been experiencing TPS issues for a long time. While his main opponent by market cap, ripple (XRP), successfully cope with over 1.5K transactions per second, Ethereum can only handle 15 TPS.

The launch of Ethereum 2.0, the new version of the ethereum protocol with support for the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, is scheduled for January 3, 2020.
