Stablecoin issuer Tether Limited (USDT) has mistakenly issued approximately 5 billion USDT coins on TRON blockchain, said Paolo Ardoino, Bitfinex & Tether CTO.
While preparing the issuance for Omni to Tron swap there have been an issue with the token decimals. Please check the burn transactions below @Tether_tohttps://t.co/reEW51qCqihttps://t.co/zo5i3ayTuQ https://t.co/h1Y9Mnr4Oq

According to Poloniex official Twitter account, the unsanctioned issue of such a big amount occurred while Poloniex was conducting a USDT chain swap with the help of Tether. An incorrect amount of USDT "was accidentally minted, and this has since been resolved to the intended value."
However, at press time, all of the 5 billion mistakenly issued USDT were successfully burned.
Earlier, Tether announced the addition of EOSIO to the list of blockchain networks that are now supported by Tether.
