Social trading platform eToro has just added its first ERC-20 tokens to its digital wallet. In total, it has added 120 cryptocurrencies based on the ethereum protocol, including Maker (MKR), Basic Attention Token (BAT) and OmiseGO (OMG), among others.

The cryptos were added to the platform's digital wallet on Tuesday. The company has said that these are just the first of a long list of tokens it plans to add in the future.

Doron Rosenblum, eToroX CEO, said:

"Adding 120 ERC-20 tokens to the eToro wallet is further evidence of our belief that one day all investable assets will be tokenized. One of the main barriers to mass adoption of cryptoassets is lack of access. Making these first 5 tokens available enables more people to transfer and hold them into a secure and regulated wallet."

We must not forget that the platform's digital wallet is managed by eToroX, an eToro subsidiary which is regulated by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission.

On June 21, Ihodl Spain reported that eToro had successfully completed a trial of issuing tokenized assets on Facebook's Libra protocol.

The ERC-20 protocol is the technical standard used for all smart contracts on the ethereum blockchain for token implementation. It sets a common list of rules that all ethereum tokens must follow.
