Bitsane, an Irish cryptocurrency trading platform based in Dublin, has shut down and reportedly disappeared with its users' funds, Forbes reported yesterday.
Users started to have problems when trying to withdraw their funds already in May. However, the platform said this was due to temporary technical problems.
The exchange had been operative till June 17, when Bitsane reportedly went offline and its Twitter and Facebook accounts were also deleted.
The platform, which was launched back in 2016, used to be one of Ripple’s approved exchanges. Around 246,000 users have lost access to their funds after the closure of the exchange.
According to local newspaper Irish Mirror, over 100 people have lost between €5,000 and €132,000.
This is the second bad news for the crypto market in 2 days. Yesterday Ihodl reported that a group of hackers had stolen $4.5 million from crypto exchange Bitrue.
