The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation has arrested six people suspected in bitcoin scam, The Washington Post reports.
The police agency claims authorities in the Netherlands and Britain have arrested six people suspected of involvement in a crypto scam worth of 24 million euros ($27 million).
According to Europol, five men and one woman were arrested in the southwest of Britain and in the Dutch cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
The bad actors were reportedly identified in a 14-month investigation into so-called "typosquatting" scam in which they recreated a well-known crypto exchange to gain access to clients’ BTC wallets.
Europol says in a statement that the scam is believed to have hit at least 4,000 victims in 12 countries.
Earlier Europol announced it's developing in close cooperation with CENTRIC (Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research) a serious cryptocurrency-tracking game.
