The eToro trading platform has successfully tested a tokenized asset based on the Libra cryptocurrency protocol from Facebook.

According to the repository data on GitHub, the eToroX division used Libra to launch the eToken token. Thus, the developers wanted to demonstrate the capabilities of Libra:

"In this brief overview, we describe our initial experience with implementing the technology behind eToro tokenized assets, the (eToken) in the Move IR language for deployment on the Libra Network."

Chief Blockchain Scientist & MD eToroX Labs, Omri Ross, highlights currently, Libra doesn't allow modules to be published, which is why the source code for eToken is meant to be run as a test.

Earlier iHodl reported that Facebook revealed its own cryptocurrency called Libra and digital wallet — Calibra. However, it looks like some countries are not too enthusiastic about the idea of Facebook's currency, especially those in which the situation of digital assets is uncertain.
