Main page News, Blockchain

Local publication Star reported last June 18 that Malaysia has just launched an initiative that offers visas to blockchain experts.

The objective of this program is to attract blockchain experts to the country through visas in order to help Malaysia become a world leader in this promising technology.

The program has been jointly launched by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the NEM Foundation and the Jobbatical job portal.

These visas will grant their owners the right to stay at least 12 months in the country. However, during this time they must offer blockchain-related services or receive training in local companies.

Norhizam Abdul Kadir, MDEC growth ecosystem development vice-president, said that "the number of visas will depend on the projects that are carried out by the country's blockchain companies."

He added that the proposal has been submitted to the Immigration Department and the Home Ministry.

Jasmine Ng, NEM Malaysia CEO, said that "this measure will encourage the arrival of blockchain experts to the country, who will help local workers learn from their skills."
