Recently revealed Facebook's Calibra digital wallet won't be accessible to a number of markets that have taken a stand against cryptocurrency, or are sanctioned by the United States, a Calibra spokesperson told TechCrunch.

Previously, Facebook revealed its own cryptocurrency called Libra and digital storage — Calibra.

"The Libra Blockchain will be global, but it will be up to custodial wallet providers to determine where they will and will not operate. Calibra won’t be available in US-sanctioned countries or countries that ban cryptocurrencies," the spokesperson noted.

Thus, it is expected that Calibra will be prohibited in India, which is Facebook’s biggest market. In addition to India, Calibra will not be probably available in China, North Korea, Crimea and Iran.

Earlier Facebook announced, that the Calibra app, which is based on the innovative blockchain technology and allows people to enjoy additional freedom, security and accessibility when making everyday transfers, will be "available globally."
