Mercado Libre, a popular South American online marketplace present in 19 countries, is currently working with Facebook on Libra, the social network's stablecoin, CoinTelegraph Brazil reported on June 14.

The online marketplace will reportedly integrate Facebook's stablecoin as a means of payment.

Mercado Libre will probably act as a node within the blockchain of the social network's future cryptocurrency.

According to several sources, the testnet of the social network's blockchain will be announced this week.

Last iHodl reported that Facebook's crypto project is backed by giants from different sectors, including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Uber. These important companies have already invested about 10 million dollars in the project.

Facebook announced its plans to create its own cryptocurrency in May last year. The social network established a special division for this purpose.

The launch of the cryptocurrency is planned for 2020, although Facebook could make the official announcement in the third quarter of this year.
