Facebook has reportedly hired a senior British bank lobbyist for its upcoming cryptocurrency project Libra, Financial Times reports.
According to FT, Edward Bowles, the Head of Corporate and Public Affairs at Standard Chartered, will join the social network in September as its London-based director of public policy.
Bowles worked at the bank for almost 12 years in the European Commission's transatlantic trade and investment partnership group.
At press time, Facebook hasn't made any official announcement.
Earlier iHodl reported that Facebook received a major investment for its crypto project from several U.S. giants, including Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and Uber.
These companies, which operate in different industries, ranging from finance to telecommunications, have invested around $10M in a consortium that will govern the future of Facebook's coin.
