Gram, Telegram's token, will be made available to retail investors through a limited listing on July 10, TechCrunch has reported today.
The token sale will be made on cryptocurrency exchange Liquid. Telegram will not offer the tokens directly, instead, they will be sold by Gram Asia, a Korea-based organization which claims to be the largest holder of Gram tokens in Asia. The number of tokens as well as their price has not been disclosed yet.
This sale is a limited offering before the actual public sale, which will take place in October.
The press release that announces the token sale does not include any quote by Pavel Durov, Telegram's CEO. It looks like the company is trying to avoid being involved in the token sale. Some people say it might have adopted this strategy in an attempt to avoid problems with the law.
Buyers will not be able to exchange their tokens since they will be held in USDC until the tokens are released in October.
