The users of the popular cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex got an unpleasant surprise on May 26.

Margin lenders, who are users who lend their funds to others to carry out margin trading transactions, lost their funds due to a crash on the CLAM market.

Apparently, the affected users lost as mush as 13.5 million dollars (18,000 bitcoins).

The trading platform, which was acquired by Circle last year, reported about the incident yesterday on a blog post.

0.4% of the users of the platform have been affected by the incident.

Shortly after the crash, the exchange froze all accounts of defaulting borrowers and will keep them frozen till they pay their loans.
