Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, has just announced it is testing a new stablecoin pegged to the pound sterling in Binance Chain, its native blockchain.

Twitter user CryptosBatman has posted on the social network a screenshot of the Binance platform that shows the BGBP has been included in it:

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao commented the post shortly afterwards to confirm the information, reporting that only £200 have been minted and that the stablecoin is currently being tested.

According to the official Binance DEX explorer, the official name of the new currency is BGBP-CF3.

On April 2 iHodl reported that TrustToken had launched a stablecoin pegged to the pound sterling. The currency, known as TrueGBP, is backed by real sterling funds stored in U.S. deposit accounts.
