Ireland's Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation announced two days ago a new degree focused on crypto's underlying technology.
According to the announcement, Dublin City University plans to offer the country's first blockchain master's degree. This new degree offered by the educational institution will be possible thanks to a partnership between the university and the tech company network Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet.
The new degree, called Master's in Blockchain: Distributed Ledger Technologies, will help students acquire all the skills they need to develop a successful career within the blockchain ecosystem.
Apparently, the master's degree will be online, will have a duration of 2 years and its first edition will start in September 2019.
This master's degree is aimed at professionals in the IT industry who work in Ireland with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computing, Computer Applications or a related discipline.
Why it is important
- This Irish university is not the first educational institution to offer a blockchain-related course/degree. For example, in November last year we reported that Tokyo University would include a blockchain course within its master's degree in engineering and technology. And in June 2018 it was also reported the Financial University under the government of the Russian Federation would launch the country’s first master program for blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
