One of the Wikipedia founders, Larry Sanger, at the second edition of the Malta A.I. & Blockchain Summit shared his views regarding the purpose of the blockchain technology in the modern world.

Lawrence Mark Sanger is known as the Internet project developer. He is also the founder of Citizendium (another version of Wikipedia) and the Co-Founder of Wikipedia itself.

At the summit, Sanger highlighted the issue of privacy and storing data, pointing out that blockchain has become so popular since it gives "the opportunity to take back control over data and our relationships."

“One of the main reasons blockchain has been exploding in popularity is it gives us the opportunity to take back control over data and our relationships. We should own our own data,” saud Sanger.

Back in January, the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit behind Wikipedia and similar projects, established a partnership with BitPay, a bitcoin-focused payment provider in order to be able to accept crypto donations.
