The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has delayed once again its decision on VanEck/SolidX bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), seeking public comment in the interim.
"The Commission is instituting proceedings to allowfor additional analysis of the proposed rule change’s consistency... which requires, among other things, that the rules of a national securities exchange be “designedto prevent fraudulent and manipulative acts and practices, to promote just and equitableprinciples of trade,” and “to protect investors and the public interest," the SEC said in the statement.
The SEC has been delaying its decisions regarding the bitcoin ETF for a long time now and it's still unknown when and if the regulator approves or disapprove the bitcoin-focused ETFs in the middle-term perspective.
Earlier, on May 15th, the SEC has also postponed its decision on the approval of Bitwise's bitcoin ETF.
